Shafted
Book nowThe once-thriving Coalcot mining community in West Virginia has sat desolate for over a century. While researching the old town, you stumbled across a miner’s diary hinting that Rockefeller’s secret treasure was sealed up in the Coalcot Mine. Now you’ve gathered together a group of adventurous friends to venture into the abandoned mine and find it.

What others are saying
Shafted is a mine-themed treasure hunt at Bingemans’ EscapeworX, and reception is mixed. Experienced players on Morty often call it the best of the venue’s rooms, while a Google reviewer had a frustrating visit.
Reviewers on Morty mostly praise the set. Several call it the most immersive room in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and say it truly feels like being down a mineshaft. They also like how the tech puzzles are worked in, and they describe the puzzles as challenging but rewarding, with a few scavenger-hunt moments. Game masters are described as attentive, answering hint requests quickly and clearly. Players suggest two to four people, since more would feel crowded.
The most common complaint is that the room is very dark. Morty reviewers also mention worn props, a rough gravel floor that isn’t accessible for anyone with mobility issues, and dust on your clothes and shoes. Many dislike the hint policy: the first hint is free, but each one after that costs five minutes. One Morty player found the final puzzle broken. A Google reviewer said it was too dark to see, the printed clues had faded until they were nearly unreadable, and help was slow to arrive.
