Review of "Sinister Shadows" at Arcane Escape Rooms

You arrive at a supernatural containment facility for a guided tour, expecting a rare glimpse of the world’s most dangerous creatures. But something is wrong: cells are empty, alarms are silent, and the guards are nowhere to be found. The creatures — the shadowy horrors — are loose, prowling the corridors. They need to be stopped before escaping the facility.

What others are saying

Sinister Shadows is the opening game at Arcane, a newer independent venue on Morrison Drive, set in a supernatural containment facility where the creatures have escaped. Reviewers on Morty, a Reddit poster in r/ottawa and Google reviewers all speak warmly of it.

Reviewers on Morty describe it as logical and fair, with varied puzzles, a good flow and an urgent ending. The Reddit poster’s group of six found the puzzles very good and the mechanical props reliable. Google reviewers highlight unique mechanisms and satisfying puzzles that never feel overly complicated or finicky, and families say everyone felt involved. Many reviewers also mention the enthusiastic, friendly owner.

On Morty, reviewers note that it isn’t a big-budget production. One adds that it sits on the easier side for enthusiasts and could use a few more puzzles, making it a better fit for beginners. There is also no clock in the room, which some players may miss.
