The Grand Wilshire Hotel is still running at The Imaginarium, which has moved from North York to Scarborough. It has been around for years and remains very well liked, with players and enthusiast bloggers especially impressed by its looks.
The set gets the most praise. The Escape the Roomers blog called the design phenomenal and full of exquisite detail, and players on Morty described a grand entrance, a hotel decorated from floor to ceiling with a genuinely decrepit look, and lots of lighting, video and audio effects. Reviewers enjoyed the mix of tech and traditional locks, puzzles that send you back to earlier rooms, satisfying “aha” moments, and friendly game masters. It’s spooky in tone without being truly scary.
The most common complaint is the ending, which many people found anticlimactic. It’s also widely considered on the easy side, so experienced teams may finish quickly. Morty reviewers also mentioned an audio clue that repeats annoyingly, more screens than some would like, one unintuitive puzzle, a long introduction, and puzzles that feel fairly commonplace by today’s standards. One group played during an air conditioning outage in the summer of 2026 and also hit some tech issues.
