Best Magic & Wizard Escape Rooms

The Triwizard Trials at Improbable Escapes

Magic might be the perfect escape room theme. When a room is built well, technology stops feeling like a hidden controller behind a panel and starts feeling like a spell. Doors open, potions react, and the puzzles make sense because, well, it’s magic. The best rooms we’ve played lean into that with spell-casting, potion brewing, fortune telling, and very few traditional locks.

This list covers every magic and wizard room we’ve played, wherever we’ve played it, from Kingston to Regina. It’s ranked by our review scores and only includes rooms that are still open, so grab your wand and your favourite spell book.

The Triwizard Trials at Improbable Escapes

1. The Triwizard Trials (Kingston)

Our score: 9.3/10 · Improbable Escapes

Prove you’re worthy of a spot at Wizzle Wozzle’s Academy by brewing potions and charming mythical beasts. This highly immersive space blends the building’s old stone columns with built sets, top-notch props, and no traditional locks at all. Danielle called it her favourite room so far. It’s a medium-hard room where you’ll need to be quick and observant, and it’s best suited to 4, maybe 5, players.

Miss Fortune at Escape Club

2. Miss Fortune (Regina)

Our score: 9/10 · Escape Club

Step into the parlour of the mystic Miss Fortune and uncover the mystery of her final reading. This creepy, dark room has clever puzzles that fit the space perfectly, near-perfect audio and lighting, and a host who gave hints in character with just the right amount of nudging. It might be a pinch dark at points, and it’s a smaller space that’s perfect for 2 and comfortable for 4.

Walden’s Wizarding Shop at Looking Glass Adventures

3. Walden’s Wizarding Shop (Toronto)

Our score: 9/10 · Looking Glass Adventures

Something’s amiss at Walden’s shop, and it’s up to you to stop the evil forces lurking inside. This is Looking Glass’s best room: the most immersive, the most challenging, and full of technology that feels magical instead of technical. Fans of a certain wizarding book series will spot the nods, but you don’t need to know the books to enjoy it. The only thing not fully built out is the ceiling.

The Magician’s Assistant at Escape Manor

4. The Magician’s Assistant (Hamilton)

Our score: 8.3/10 · Escape Manor

The magician’s assistant has vanished, and he’s standing trial for it. Can you uncover the real story? The experience starts with you sitting in a theatre in front of a closed red curtain, which sets the stage for immersion right away, and there’s a magical feeling throughout. Some puzzles were frustrating and there were fewer of them than in other Escape Manor rooms, but it’s a solid medium room with great visuals.

Chamber of Serpents at E-Exit

5. Chamber of Serpents (Toronto)

Our score: 8/10 · E-Exit

As students of Hogwarts, you’ve found the first real clue to the hidden chambers of Salazar Slytherin. The puzzles are logical, fun, and follow the story well, with a good mix of unique and traditional styles. It’s not very hard and very linear, so it’s a great pick for newer groups or groups with kids. We’d have liked more variation in ambient audio and fewer “do not touch” stickers.

The Wizarding World at Mission Possible

6. The Wizarding World (Milton)

Our score: 8/10 · Mission Possible

You’ve stumbled into a magical adventure and have one chance to prove you belong in the wizarding world. The environment gets more immersive as you move through the room, and there’s a sheer amount to do, with some unique puzzles and a good mix of styles. The room relies on technology to check whether you’ve cast a spell correctly, which breaks the immersion at times. It’s medium-hard, so bring three to six players.

Merlin’s Sanctum at Labyrinth Escape Games

7. Merlin’s Sanctum (Aurora)

Our score: 7.3/10 · Labyrinth Escape Games

Sneak into the legendary wizard Merlin’s sanctum and make it past his traps to claim Excalibur. The creators did a good job bringing unique lighting and audio into each space, and the puzzles are a good mix of styles. A few props need touching up, and one puzzle turned into racing the clock while transposing information. It’s a fun, easy-medium room with good ambiance.
