The Lost Shipwreck is one of Crypto’s most praised games. The Room Escape Artist blog lists it among the best escape rooms around Toronto, and another enthusiast blog called it a thrilling pirate adventure.
Reviewers are impressed by the craftsmanship: a richly detailed cave set, a ship that’s revealed in dramatic fashion, and moody lighting that still lets you see what you’re doing. Bloggers also praised the clever use of vertical space, the special effects and tech, and puzzles that make you use every corner of the room. Experienced players appreciated that it’s more challenging than Crypto’s other rooms.
The main criticism is the ending. The Room Escape Artist blog felt the final puzzle, which has to be repeated several times, lost momentum and didn’t land as the big finish it should be, and was also left puzzled by a navigation challenge. Because it’s tougher, newer players are advised not to be shy about using hints.
