VHS
A group dare to venture through an abandoned house turns into a horrifying nightmare when you realize you’re not alone. The house was boarded shut and left vacant after the previous family that lived in the home were found brutally murdered. You only get a few steps in before you all decide to not go any further. But, it’s too late. The front door is jammed shut. Shh! Did you hear that? A TV turns on in the distance playing an old VHS tape. Pay attention- It’s life or death.
We have not yet completed a review of VHS at Ready Set Go Adventures in Mississauga. We hope to experience this room soon.
What others are saying
VHS is Ready Set Go’s horror room, with a live scare actor. Casual players often rave about it in Google reviews. Players on Reddit also recommend it as one of the GTA’s scary rooms with an actor. Enthusiasts on Morty are more divided, mostly because it’s both the venue’s scariest room and one of its hardest.
On the plus side, reviewers like the creepy multi-room set and the idea of collecting VHS tapes that slowly reveal the story and tie everything together at the end. Players call the puzzles challenging but logical and non-linear, so a group can split up. Some found it genuinely chilling, and one Google reviewer called it possibly the scariest horror room in the GTA. Others thought it was more campy-spooky than terrifying.
The most common complaint is that the scares get in the way of the puzzles. Several enthusiasts said the actor jumps out during difficult or timed puzzles, which can cost you progress. They also felt the scares were more random haunted-house jumps than part of the story. Reviewers also flagged audio clues that are hard to hear over ambient sound and TV clips, and memory-heavy puzzles with nothing provided to write on. More than one group of three was told no team their size had ever finished, and reviewers suggest bringing five or six experienced players. Expect low light and a short crawl. One group also reported a sensor that didn’t work properly.
