Omescape now operates as Omventure, and The Kingdom of Cats is still running in Markham. It’s one of the company’s oldest rooms, though Omventure says it has been refreshed in recent years. Players generally see it as a charming, easy, family-friendly game rather than a challenge.
People love the quirky theme. The Room Escape Artist blog, in an older review, called it charming and adorable, with fun cat-inspired interactions and a set you climb through. More recent players on Morty praised the cute, immersive decor, the crawling and exploring, and how well it suits kids and first-timers. The We Try To Escape blog liked the original storyline, creative puzzles and fitting music.
The main criticism is that it’s too easy for seasoned players, and one called it one of Omventure’s older, more mediocre rooms. Another Morty reviewer said the tech didn’t fully work and felt the game master debrief was minimal. We Try To Escape found the rooms darker than the light-hearted theme calls for and the link between spaces unclear, while Room Escape Artist felt some puzzles were generic and that the room requires moving around an interactive set, which may not suit everyone.
