Dr. Craig was arrested for conducting unethical experimentations on human test subjects. Having circumvented imprisonment, he built a secret laboratory beneath the city’s sewage system. Virus Outbreak was the first room at the Scarborough location when it opened as OMescape in 2017 (the company is now Omventure). Reviews are generally positive, and it’s often described as a solid, approachable game on the easier side.
Players especially like how much there is to explore. An early review on the K.Bunniii blog loved how the game starts in a small space and keeps expanding, and praised puzzles built around props instead of lockboxes, plus one surprising moment they hadn’t seen anywhere else. Players on the Morty app mentioned a good variety of puzzles, neat visual effects and better-than-expected sets for a standard 60-minute room, and recommended it for everyone from beginners to enthusiasts. A TripAdvisor reviewer called it thorough and well designed, with lots of authentic-looking, high-tech components.
The criticisms are fairly minor. One Morty player said most puzzles follow familiar escape room tropes. Several Morty players pointed out that the timer starts while the intro recording plays in the dark, which bothers competitive teams. It’s also quite dark throughout, with nowhere to sit and one slippery spot. Meanwhile, some first-timers found it tougher than expected: one TripAdvisor reviewer’s group was well short of finishing when time ran out, and a Morty player wished they’d waited until they had more experience.
